What Are You Beholding?

August 02, 20233 min read

Regardless of our background, personality, or culture, worry can often sneak its way into our lives. Today, we will explore how beholding God's love can help us find peace and overcome worry.

First and foremost, let me ask you, how are you truly doing? Often, we try to put on a brave face, pretending that everything is fine. However, the truth is, God knows how we are genuinely feeling inside—our hearts, minds, families, and relationships. The good news is that our Heavenly Father cares deeply for us, no matter the challenges we face.

One of the key messages in the Bible, specifically in Matthew 6:25, is Jesus' encouragement not to worry about our lives. It may seem challenging to set aside worries when faced with uncertainties, but Jesus calls us to trust Him completely. The Apostle Paul echoes this sentiment in Philippians 4:6-7, urging us not to be anxious but to present our concerns to God with thanksgiving, receiving His peace that surpasses understanding.

Worry is a distraction that divides our focus, causing anxiety and stress. It keeps us from experiencing the peace that Jesus intended for us. However, Jesus reminds us to focus on Him and His love for us. When we behold Him and His perspective on our circumstances, our worries diminish. In 1 John 3:1, we are encouraged to behold the depth of the Father's marvelous love bestowed upon us, making us His beloved children.

Beholding God's love means to perceive it, to see ourselves and our circumstances through His eyes. When we take time to sit at His feet and seek His perspective, we can understand how deeply He loves us. His love can help us navigate through the worries and distractions of life. As we behold Him, our trust in His goodness strengthens, and we can surrender our worries to Him.

It's important to remember that God's love extends to every area of our lives, both good and challenging. Our Heavenly Father rejoices over us, loving and caring for us in ways that go beyond our understanding. By beholding His love, we can transform worrisome situations into opportunities for God to reveal His goodness.

When we worry, our focus shifts from gratitude to what's lacking or needed in our lives. However, Philippians reminds us to be grateful in all circumstances. Gratitude shifts our focus from the problem to God's faithfulness. Trusting God with our worries and being grateful for His love can bring us peace even amidst chaos.

Remember, God's rest is the best place to be. When we fully trust Him, we can run the race He has set before us. He desires us to trust Him entirely, even with our vulnerabilities, and to let go of control. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us.

So, today, let's choose to hope again, to believe again, and to trust our Heavenly Father. Allow Him to show His love and faithfulness in your life. Pour out your heart before Him, and let Him take control. Find gratitude in every situation, knowing that God is working all things together for your good.

In conclusion, remember that God's love can dispel worry and bring peace. Behold Him, behold His love, and trust Him in every circumstance. No matter the challenges you face, know that God cares deeply for you. He longs to guide you, protect you, and fill your life with His peace, which surpasses all understanding. Let's lean into His love and find lasting peace in Him.

May the profound peace of God be your guiding light on this incredible journey of life. Embrace His love, align your thoughts with His perspective, and experience the unshakable tranquility that surpasses all understanding.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace, the absence of all things harmful, the presence of all thing beneficial, nothing missing, nothing broken. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
